Youth Marijuana Advisory Council
About
The Youth Marijuana Advisory Council was started in 2015 to address the issue of underage marijuana usage in Poudre High School and in the broader Fort Collins community. Inspired by attending the Bezos Scholars Program at the Aspen Ideas Festival, project coordinator Gillian Breuer and project supervisor Kelby Benedict set out to launch their own Local Ideas Festival. The Youth Marijuana Advisory Council discusses new and upcoming marijuana research in bi-weekly meetings and serves as an authority on underage marijuana usage in Poudre High School.
The Bezos Scholar Program
The Youth Marijuana Advisory Council is supported by the Bezos Scholar Program. For eleven years, Mike and Jackie Bezos have broght together students from across the United States and from the African Leadership Academy in Aspen to talk about how to enact real change in their communities.
